It’s easy, when you feel like you’re stuck at the edges of a hurricane, to forget the calmness of its center. Some days, I have to consciously pull myself back to the middle and force myself to recognize that amongst the chaos, there is a beautiful rhythm about my life, a steady heartbeat, thump-thump-thump, that keeps time, relaxes me into moments that let me forget the wind whipping around me.

This little girl, this tiny piece of heaven on earth, reminds me every day that you don’t have to trek miles and miles to find peace. Sometimes getting to the eye of the storm is as simple as taking the time to have a look around.
